Sucked into a big black hole

I'm sure this happens to all of us, but I just wanted to vent/confess.......

The last few weeks have been difficult to find time to ride. Work picked up in a big way and I was working 55-60hrs a week with a Sunday thrown in there two weeks ago. It just zapped all my energy, getting home at 7:30 looking at the setting sun and sorta getting depressed that there would be no time to ride, and that as each day went by there was no chance of doing WildRide. All this started happening shortly after my ride with Cuda and Jsharr, and I felt great after that ride and saw good things on the horizon. That voice inside started taunting me with thoughts of going the whole distance @WildRide. Thas how pumped I was. And the last few weeks were a complete mess. I was one grumpy soul. All work and no play.

Finally I got out of work around 6 on Wednesday(early by the boss' standards) and got on the bike. My legs felt heavy and 15 mins into it I felt like turning around. Instead I got out of my neighborhood and rode through town for a 1/2 hour more, then yesterday I got home even earlier and set out on a longer ride and rode till dark!

Tommorow will suck a little as I wont be riding WildRide, but I will ride and I might even go up to FM 1138 and cheer on those that are riding the long route.

I know we all get bogged down with life and it cuts into our ride time, but I just felt beat down latley.

Chris, there's a small group leaving from my apartment Sunday morning for an easy 20mi or so. Shoot me a PM if you're interested in joining us. Lots of us have been of the bike completely later so it'll be a good relaxed pace.

Doesn't it suck when work gets in the way of cycling? I am going through a similar situation. My new position at work is a lot more demanding than my last job. My free time is almost non existant. I still try to get out every chance I get even if it is only for an hour. I was supposed to be competing in the Masters Regionals at the Superdrome but I had to toss that out the window since I have no time to train for it.

Hopefully it will get better for you!

On another topic, you should arrange a group ride out in Royce city. I use FM 1138 when I go to my sister's house and my parent's house. My sister lives right at 1138 and HWY 66. You've got some nice roads out there.

Hey Chris:

Sorry to hear bout you time off the bike. Happens to all of us. Happened to me for about 8 years not too long ago. Ride when you can, maybe think about picking up a trainer to ride on in the den or garage when you can't hit the road.

Hope to see you Sunday.

Jeff

Man, what a difference a long ride makes! Did 25mi this morning with Cuda and Jsharr this morning from cuda's place to White Rock. Glad I did it too, I feel like getting back in a rythm.
Yesterday I ran into the guys from PBA @ the corner of 66 &1138. I always get chased by a dog that pops out of the weeds just past hwy66. he doesnt always have that playful look either, sometimes snarling.
