I didn't have to work today, but my hat's off to you if you rode in today. The ride home last night at 8pm was c-c-cold!! At least I wasn't riding straight into the wind. (I'm in Plano as well)

Our heater keeps popping the breaker. It was around 40 in here at 8Am. It is up to the mid 60's now. Need to get someone out here to look at it, but boss will not make the call. Maybe if the office burns down due to electrical shorts, I can say told you so.

The wiring is most likely too small for the heater load.
It will burn when the breaker wears out.

I want to have a fire the fireplace but I keep forgetting to get my parents' old
set of fireplace tools. I dont want to have to push stray flaming logs with my
bike pump.

Took my Trek out to the garage to flush the shifters with WD 40. Rode up and down the block a few times to work the levers. When I came back in (in a far more desperate manner than I went out) I checked the weather channel website.

At 11am....29 F /feels like 17 F reported for Richardson.

Coffee...lots of HOT coffee.

"Parts of a man just...disappear."

It took me over 2 hours to ride home last night head onto into that nice headwind! I was woefully unprepared in the footwear department for the windchill and the 15degree lower temps then forcasted.

Keen sandals and a pair of socks don't make warm feet
It wasn't supposed to be that cold that fast

It is 35*F here, feels like 25*F. I went to the garage to fire up the hotrod and make sure it still starts (cold didn't kill the battery). It hardly wants to run, just lops like it has a wicked cam in it.

Of course all those folks still riding up north are thinking, "What a bunch of wuss'es!" When they hear us complain.

I remember riding in the dead of winter in Pittsburgh (God! Was it really 30 yrs ago?) as my bike was my only transportation. I guess you can get used to it, if you ride in the cold all the time.

I ride in and no wind and it is 60 degrees at my house in complete darkness.
I ride home and when I get there it is 35 with 20+mph winds gusting to 30+.

The only thing I remember in Connecticut was it being suprisingly warm on the ride home from the train station not a ton colder then it was in the AM. I'm still a wuss though and I wasn't thinking.. I went to 7-11 I should have just gotten two plastic bags and put them over my socks to block the wind duh.. better than freezing em.

It's truly sad when the morning temp turns out to be the high for the day.

Busted out the balaclava this morning. The cold temps aren't bad, but this wind... ugh, I curse its very existence.

When we left North Stonnington, CT in 1995 I left my attic and my basement. Having grown up in Texas, the basement was awesome. Not so awesome as to make me stay though.

It's very cold there.

I can now say I road my bike in the snow. Even though it was only half an inch of snow, and it was only through my yard....it was still as close to "snow" for this Gulf Coaster.

I was down in Alice, Texas yesterday. Went to bed early, it was nice shirt-sleeve weather. Woke up this morning and 39 and the wind blowing, and 39-40 all the way back.

I did get to stop at Mellow Johnny's bike store on the way back. I was expecting something like Richardson Bike Mart, and it's not anything like that. It's in an old existing building, not that big, and really not oriented towards racing to the extent I would have expected. A Trek Drift (retro cruiser) was prominent in the racks, and a lowrider/scraper bike was hanging over one door.

Ok stupid businesses lots and residents that leave their sprinkler systems on when it is freezing out which leads to them breaking and coating the street with ice is _not_ a substitute for snow.

We got about 3 inches in Clear Lake (the weather man said it was unlikely we would see snow that close to the coast). Had a snowball fight with my girlfriend. The cool thing was waking up to see snow still in the yard at 0800 this morning.
