I'll be there. It'll be my first 100 miler, hope I'm not biting off more than a fat boy can chew...

I am not going. It is too hot.

I plan to be there doing something. One of my goals is to ride my Worksman reverse trike on the 100k route. That should take about 8 hours or so.

I'm planning on it... just gotta make the commitment of registering. On a SEVERE budget, so probably car camping. I MIGHT spend the night at a friends place in Fort Worth post ride.

Not NEARLY as hot, but I rode 90mi solo this week, so I'm confident i can pull off the full 100.

Too early to commit right now. Might try to do it, but like others have said,I can find closer rides of 100 miles in the Houston area and I have done the HHH twice already.

I would like to ride, but my normal riding partners are wimping out. It is a commitment because of the long drive.

i plan on doing it, third year in a row. first year we camped and it was so hot, humid, and a loud train would go by every hour or so so i got no sleep, and woke up dehydrated from sweating all night. second year i stayed at some church camp, 30-40 men in one room, bunk beds, got no sleep again, oh forgot to mention 30-40 snoring, farting, coughing, burping, watching mini tvs, rustling around men..my sis stayed in the girls cabin and said it was perfect so considering wearing a wig and staying with the ladies this year ;) hopefully this yr i'll get a hotel or make the drive the morning of (coming from dallas so not too bad and prob better than prev yrs). Last yr was beautiful weather, yr before HOT, so curious how this yr will be!

I think this will be #20 in a row for me. Would not miss it. I'm not a 100 miler, just a recreational rider who likes 50-62 mile routes.It would be nice to predict what the weather will do, but then not knowing is half the fun. I have experienced the ride at mid-80' with mist so heavy my computer quit working to being 107 at 5:00 in the evening.( not the same year of course). For you newbies, if you plan on making the trek, call to get your room now, not tomorrow, now. They fill up quick. If you have to, you can cancel the room at a later date. The place we stay at is great. I sign up when we leave last year, I get a confirmation e-mail the first week of January, then get an e-mail the first of July saying they are going to charge my card on a certain date. Just like clockwork.

Did my first century at the 2009 HH100 (5:25 non-stop, thanks to the relatively cooler weather), so I already made my lodging reservations again for this year!

I would like to go but do not have anywhere to stay. I called all the hotels in the town and nothing. I will be traveling with my wife and 14month kiddos by then. any advice?

check out the website. Lots (kinda) of places to stay other than hotels. Chamber Of Commerce has a list of people who let cyclist stay in their homes, area churches help out. I heard somewhere there were one or two new hotels opening this year. There is also a facebook HnH page that should start getting active as the year progresses toward august. Good luck in finding a place.

I just signed up for it. Not looking forward to the drive from the Dirty H but I have the friday before off so no rush to get up there.

I've done summer century rides in other states but this will be a first for TX!

I just drive up the morning of, from Garland. Go to bed early, get up early, save $100.

I've done it the last two years, and both years were relatively pleasant, temperature-wise. Maybe it'll be 3 in a row.

Maybe you can do the Purgatory ride in October if Hell in August is too much for you. :)

anyone that did the 2009 hh100, was it just my group (i think the keepers) or was everyone dropping their water bottles for like the first hour during the ride? i just remember hearing "water bottle" and seeing fingers pointing at the ground non stop last year, it was hilarious!

Lots of people = lots of bottles, and then with so many people, you wouldn't want to stop and try to retrieve one, I think just a natural consequence of having a HUGE crowd out.

There were alot of bottles lost. But what was strange was I saw several bottles with the cages still attached. Also plenty of "store bought bottles", people putting bottles where bottles don't belong. If you had hit one of those bottles, it would have not been so hilarious.

Agreed, i was worried about running one over and with the crowd so tight it would have been bad. I'm thinking about moving up in the group this year, i'm quick enough now (last year i rode with one of my sisters that did a lower mileage), but more so just so i don't have to navigate through such a large crowd this time.

I go out with the 100k every year. I may not do the 100k, and I'm not as fast as some of them, but I am an experienced enough to ride with them and stay out of trouble.

I'm seriously considering it. Brother-in-law lives in DFW area, probably stay there & drive up early AM.

I'm actually looking at doing the race. Bikereg does not have it open yet. The HH site says reg should open for it around end-of-March. Anyone have any ideas? Or do I just need to keep going back to bikereg? Anyone know how quick the race fills up?

I'm a maybe. It depends on how things are going at work, how much spare cash I have, etc. Many things to play into the decision. I would like to ride it.

Don't worry about it. It is the easiest century you'll ever do unless your trying for a sub 5 hour time.

Unless the wind is blowing and the temps get over 100. Although I have heard that the wind is not as big a factor on the 100 mile route as it is on the shorter ones.

I got the mailout newspaper this last week. In the racing article on page 3, it says, "Registration for the races will go live after the race's official new chief referee comes to the area and approves the fliers and the competition manual." In that article, it also mentions that many racers sign up at the last minute anyway, so they're not out their money if they have to back out or get injured before or something.

I'm in! I did my first century a couple weeks ago, the Shiner GHASP, and now I'm hungry for more. This is going to be great.

my sister-in-law convinced my wife that we should do the ride again this year ( my 6th?). Probably do either the 100k or 50 miler, not sure yet. Registered last night.
I've stayed at that 'Church Camp' I think you mean Camp Chaparrel about 8 miles out of town. I've been in the dorm once and it was not fun. We usually try to book a hotel type room if they're available.
One of the nice things about the camp is they provide spaghetti dinner Friday night, and breakfast Sat. morning starting about 5:00. The Best thing is checkout isn't in the morning so you can return to the camp after the ride and shower before the ride home.
