My wife and have done a lot of touring together. I doubt that I'd be able to keep her from touring with me. It is more like; I am glad she lets me come along with her. I'll casually mention a possible route or place, and pretty soon she has the maps out and is pricing airline tickets. I have to watch what I suggest. We have completed close to 16 months of self contained touring together in the last 9-10 years, and are still best friends.

Five years ago we started a tradition of doing a short tour with our daughters every year. The length and duration depends on their work schedules, but can vary from one to two weeks. Sure, the complexity increases, but it is certainly worth it. We all got together this last weekend and planned out our route for next summer's "girls' ride".

My wife and I make a great team and I'd never voluntarily go back to solo touring. Our daughters are experienced riders and enthusiastic companions who add a lot of fun and enjoyment to a ride. They are actually talking about joining us on one of of our multi-month ventures.

I didn't realize how self centered solo touring is until I found a great partner.

I believe sharing an adventure with people you care about and are compatible with adds a lot of enjoyment to a tour.

How lucky can a guy get, to be able to tour with 3 beautiful women!

I almost always go solo- I stop too often, get up too early, and fiddle with my camera gear too much.

Sometime a little lightness on this forum can go a long way. This reply was especially good.

i'm trying to figure out how I could bring my cat along with me next time.

the west coast is a popular route. I met cyclists everyday, some of whom I rode with for several days before I ditched them. I travel light and ride fast.
