We found the museum while looking for a bike shop. I had a pretty funny incident there, and it made my day. My wife and I were still in our bike clothes as we toured through the museum. As I passed a pretty young woman she said in English, "you have really nice legs." When I said "thank you" she got all embarrassed and flustered. I thought my wife, who was just around the corner, was going to split a gut because she was laughing so hard. Indeed ! Have you been there before ? And you're welcome. I've been in the area a couple times already (it's one of the easiest/closest escapade from Paris) but had never stopped there. I've stayed a while wandering around, it's really really beautiful and peaceful. I might bring a proper film camera next time to get better shots than that of my phone.

Tim, here are a couple more you might relate to. I took these while we were attending mass at the Cologne Cathedral. I know you'll probably get on my case about taking pictures during mass, but the Bishop was performing mass with 21 alter servers, and I could not resist.
When we are touring in Europe, I proposed a guideline to my wife: we should only stop at every third, old church. Otherwise, we would not get anywhere. thats a neat place Doug. I didnt recognize the name and wondered if I had ridden past it on my trip so long ago--but checked and it was just past where I stopped and was picked up by car from a friend who was living near San Fran at the time, going back with him and visiting San Fran and doing stuff with him for a week or so.

We started on Burlington side and biked the causeway to North Hero where we camped at Goose Bay campground. Next day we rounded the top , over the bridge and entered New York. Biked to Port Kent to catch the ferry only to find out the ferry was not operational due to flood water level. It is supposed to open this Thursday. We camped at Ausable Chasm campground and next day biked to Plattsburg to catch the ferry to Grand Isle where we reconnected with South Hero and the causeway back to the car. https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c6b7d4edad.jpg

So obviously the little causeway shuttle ferry was doing it's thing over the part where the bridge is no longer there.
Haven't been on the causeway in years, will keep your loop and campgrounds in mind, could be an idea for this summer. |
