I'm not sure if I posted this here before or not. Almost exactly 2 years ago, I rode past Mt. Shasta, going through Weed, CA. Someone resurrected a thread about Univega Via de Oro bikes, where I originally posted it, so I'm gonna recycle it to here. 😉

One never ending project that I have going is "capturing" police officers on bikes. I must have at least two dozen pictures so far, but usually in pairs. This group was a bonanza.:)
Toronto--This is a great bunch folks. After allowing me to take pictures of the group, another officer volunteered to take this picture. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...410ec3e4_b.jpg |

If'n ya climb one of the really long & steep hills in San Francisco, called Avalon St., which runs near Excelsior, lol, you can eventually find Jerry Garcia Amphitheater. 😎
I thought I got pics of it, but only see this one of the sign, on my phone. 🤔 https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...ccf62c81a3.jpg |

Redwood forest in North California. I went on a pacific coast bike tour, and I took this photo to show the size. however that tree is not the biggest. there are other bigger trees than that one somewhere in the park. Truly majestic route to bike through. P |

It's a lot more impressive in person, than in pics. 😎 |
You made me forget what I was doing, lol. 😉 Self-explanatory.

If you feel energetic, you can climb this hill on the Guadalupe Canyon Expressway. From there, you can see the world-famous Cow Palace, and if you turn around, the San Francisco Bay.
That's a longish hill, but not as steep as some others I found, lol. I rediscovered John McLaren Park, from another direction, where that Jerry Garcia Amphitheater is, so maybe I'll get some pics (again), and post them. 🤔😁😉 https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c255ca9f17.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...767fa87a11.jpg |
As promised, or alluded to, pics of the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater. 😁
It's the kind of thing that sounds more awesome than it actually looks, depending on your state of mind at the time. 🤔😁😉 https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...3dc550ed0a.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/bikefor...c71f1c6a11.jpg Don't tell anyone, but I slept on that stage last night. 😉 |

No, not even close. I just have digital files, over 54,000 photos covering 19 years (12 countries), of bike touring. Hopefully, we still have a few tours left in us.:)
I imagined that your toured a lot over the years. I thought you're on the road since the bikes are fully loaded. |

I'm not sure what you meant by "on the road". |

Our bikes are fully loaded only when we are on a tour. Occasionally I will post a picture of us on "bare" bikes. These photos are taken while on tour when we leave our gear in camp or where we are lodging, and explore the area. My wife and I try to get at least one long tour, 6-12 weeks, every year. We also try to get in a shorter tour with our daughters annually. We now think of this as a family tradition having completed 10 tours together. We were extremely lucky in 2018 being able to do a 2-month European tour with our "girls".
I'm not sure what you meant by "on the road". on the road = on a trip ;) |

In my tent at Kodachrome Basin NP. Pic credit Parker Boyack. One of a groupof motorbikers sharing the group campground. One of the clearest nights I have had anywhere. Guess that NPis a long way from any light pollution. |
Man, Everyone here has such beautiful pictures of their trips. Makes me yearn to just hop on my bike and go out in the wild blue yonder.... anyway, here is a few others of my Pacific coast route that I rode on.

I have a question for the folks here who already cycled Europe, was it difficult to find campsites meaning, do you have to book campsites ahead of time, or you can just pop into a campground and ask for a night to stay? and what was the biggest challenge you faced while cycling in Europe?
Why am I asking these, well I am doing fact finding and preparation for an European trip going from Amsterdam to Italy. I do know there are many websites with information, but I'd rather ask the very cyclists who have experienced those trips. such as Language barriers, daily costs, transportation issues, etc etc. I appreciate all of your fantastic pictures as I scrolled down through this thread and it made me want to just drop everything and just go.
