neat on all the train travel, must have been nice just seeing the countryside on all the train parts as well.
I did a lot of professional slide scanning, as we were still shooting film at the beginning of the transition of film to digi, so the 2 1/4 final would be scanned for the client, and also I scanned a lot of 35mm slides for image bank and other work use, so just like darkroom room (I worked for many years as a professional printer) I got better at scanning and getting the best out of an image.
This was all at the same time of getting more proficient with photoshop, as it was all happening at the same time, so just got better and better and learned new tricks to go into the bag of tricks for scanning (just as in the b+w world of developing film and printing, one got better over time and would get more out of a neg than earlier in your printing career).

Well these probably don't qualify as bike trip photos but it was unquestionably the most exciting flight I've ever had to the start of a bike trip. I spent Nov-Feb of '91-'92 at a job at McMurdo Station Antarctica. I had my bike in storage at the Christchurch NZ airport for travel afterwards. Here's the flight to the start of a six week tour...

re popping in and out of focus, that's because the slide projector bulb is heating up the film, and the curve of the slide pops, don't worry, the autofocus lens will compensate. (I can't be the only one who remembers this with slide projections)

Imgur is good. After you upload a photo, right click on it, and go 'open image in new tab'. Then you can just paste that url in the 'paste a file url' box here, to get a higher resolution image.
People can then right click on the image in bikeforums and go 'open image in new tab' and see the higher resolution.

is a handy tool for resizing your photos and compressing them a little, it can do batches just from the context menu (right click on them - resize image)

I have a flicker account from years ago, that I do not use. One of two choices, I have the free account and not the paid account, or I never learned how to use it properly. For one reason, it does not let me post photos, it just shows little thumbnails

FWIW, I use flickr and this is how it works for me:


In flickr select and click on a picture you want to share from your photostream

It will open up this where you can select the size of picture to share (1). Then click and copy that url (2)

After that go advanced and preview the post. You should see the pics.
If you do not want the link back to your whole flickr album, delete the blue url code that appears just after the picture once you have previewed it. That way the pic shows but the link to flickr does not.
