barbags whats your favorite .
looking to buy one but must be neat and waterproof ,
i had the ortlieb u7 great bag but can't afford another one ,carradice is a contender but maybe a bit to boxie square.i have wedge type bag but useless when it rains and it has been known to rain here in Ireland .
any suggestions photos would be good

Look at the Carra Dry Line If you are not looking at Ortlieb.. CARRADICE CarraDry - NO-NONSENSE WATERPROOF BAGS
My last tour i wore the "valuables" under my clothes in a Money Belt the stuff I had in the Bar bag was Minimal ..
and it was screwed on so Un removable I draped My OS Map in a waterproof cover over It..
Got a used deal on Ultimate 3 ( Wayback) RC roll closed ,Clear Map Flap ..
then I discovered the Klick Fix bag support and adapted a Ortlieb camera Bag padded cradle divider for DSLR's [not unlike the camera inset for the bar bags]
these were closeouts model changes .. It too Rolled closed ..
KF sells parts in Bulk to other bag makers like Berthoud and Carradice . with their bar bag plate you can adapt a Plastic Bucket for a bag Too .
Recently I got an Ortlieb compact .. It keeps my stuff like checks and Medications , it Too was a close out/overstock..
This tweedy looking reflective fabric one looks Good

I spent several hours modifying the bar bag that I like, which included some sewing machine time, so I am not going to suggest that one.
But I will suggest if you have enough steerer tube that you either use the Thorn Accessory bar (first photo) or a second stem (second photo) for the bag mount so that you can mount it in a lower position. You will be glad you did later. That also frees up some of your handlebar space for other accessories. The Thorn Accessory bar I used is the short one, I think 55mm.

One more thing, if you are using drop bars with brifters, make sure everything will fit. See photo. If my bag was mounted higher, the pocket on the side of the bag would interfere with shifting.
