Touring with front cargo rack?
I’d like to minimalize my bike collection. Tired of owning 5 bikes. I’d like to have a general all purpose bike that could mostly do it all. Old steel rigid MTB frame, butterfly bars, large gear range, etc.. I’d like to keep my Origin 8 front cargo rack because I use it for groceries and such, also like to use this ride for long distance touring. I understand the advantages of low pannier racks but thought I’d get some opinions about using cargo rack for touring. I’d probably try to keep the weight down to under 25 lbs. and as compact and low as possible to help with the handling. Terrible idea? Is there a combo front cargo low rider rack out there? Thanks

The Nitto Big rack from Rivendell is not technically a low rider rack. The panniers sit somewhat higher up than they do on a typical low rider rack. I actually find it beneficial. Extra ground clearance can be nice when off paved roads.

depending on how much you wish to haul on the top tack, you van add a minirack over the wheel,
to a lowrider rack equipped bike .. there is a light aluminum one..
Blackburn type lowriders bolted onto their over the wheel rack's, near-vertical struts, rather than use the hoop.
