Planning a trip to Nova Scotia next year.
Any tips / routes for riding appreciated.

My wife and I rode from Halifax to Quebec City last summer, so we have some opinions about routes in the area. I believe that you would get more helpful opinions if you furnished more details about duration, time of year, interests, estimated daily mileages, and lodging preferences (camping vs. motels).

I put several of my comments on that link that Bob G posted above. As Doug64 mentioned above, you have told us pretty much nothing about your plans. Thus it is hard to provide any useful advice.

Also, if you could tell us how you plan to get there, if you drove there you have more flexibility for start and end points than if you flew or took a ferry or something like that.

I planned to ride into Canada from New York state this year, but I was warned that many of the Canadians that typically vacation in USA with their RVs planned on staying in Canada this year, so the campgrounds in Canada may be fuller. In the end, I chose not to do a trip this year. Next year, who knows what the politics will be like?

Most of the campgrounds I have stayed at have catered to RVs. Many of those however seem to have converted to just R. The only V in their future will be taking them to the junkyard. Functionally, this means a lot of gravelly campsites, I recommend a footprint to save your tent's floor. We could probably be more helpful if we knew when you were planning to go, where you planned to start riding, any dietary restrictions, etc.

Did the 5 eastern provinces of Canada back in '07. Highly recommend New Foundland and also enjoyed Quebec - if you're thinking of doing either of them.

I was planning a tour across Nova Scotia, in 1988, but the trip was cancelled. I was really looking forward to it.

I recently heard something on the news about that. Places like New England and the PNW/Montana have seen a loss in tourist dollars because of the drop in the number of Canadian visitors.

Wonder if it's hit NJ. The south Jersey shore has been a long-time destination for people from QC. When I was a teenager there used to be stickers on things like soda and cigarette machines warning people not to uses Canadian coins, and you would see lots of Quebec license plates. In 2013, the GF and I were on the ferry from Cape May, NJ to Lewes, DE in cycling clothes. A guy struck up a conversation with us. Turned out be a first cousin of Lois Garneau who was down from QC for vacation.

Did you mean Louis Garneau? I have a bike jersey or maybe two with that logo, Some handlebar bags. A rack top bag. Probably a few more items that do not come to mind. One of the jerseys was bought in PEI.

I am guessing that the politics might be just as bad next year, maybe worse, but I suspect that people will be more willing to revert to older habits for where they travel for summer vacations. Thus, I am guessing less boycotting next year. But that is only my guess.

I am planning to do a bike trip next year, not sure yet where. So far options are (1) partly in Ontario and Quebec, (2) UK, and (3) stay in Wisc.

In Quebec, all the construction workers have the same last 2 weeks of July off. At least this year, many did not go to US, campgrounds and other accommodations were full those weeks. Some years back, Louis Garneau sold his company and retired in Quebec. I quality of LG bike shorts has since gone bad.

Nova Scotia, the eastern provinces and your folksinging name jogged that memory. You probably have heard of him. If not, look him up. A bunch of strong songs that stand the test of time.

I've been a fan of Stan Rogers & his younger brother Garnet for years. I've seen Garnet at least 12 times in concert. In his 70s now but he still plays New England regularly. He'll be here in 2 weeks. I attended the Stan Rogers festival in Canso NS a few years ago at the tail end of a bike tour. Garnet has a house there.

One of my favorite songs by Garnet. A toast to the late owner of the "Folkway" in Peterborough NH where he and Stan had their start in the US. There's a live YouTube version but audio is better off the album.

Plans are not just set up for next year. Just looking for campgrounds and stores right now. Haven't made any plans for exactly where I plan to go.
