Not so much a moo, more like a "hello girls".

Also, has anybody noticed how they watch you as you ride past them?

Yeah, I have noticed that...

I look at it this way. Every dog that sees me, even from far away starts to flip out, bark, chase, ect.

Its like in terminator two, how the dogs can smell the cyborgs.

Out there touring, in harmony with the machine, we are cyborgs, and the dogs know it.

The cows do too, but unlike their canine bretheren they owe no allegiance to mankind. They sit there placidly waiting for us to destroy ourselves and stop eating them.

I love to do it as it also breaks up the monotony of a ride. Once, while touring in France, my friend and I mooed at a herd of cows, only to be stared at by some people who heard us and we did not originally see. Good times.

And they likely said "Les cyclistes idiots, mooing à mes vaches, ils sont !"

Hee. I'll cop to this one. I quack at ducks, too. And this morning I hissed at a Canada Goose.

I'm rather glad not to be alone in my insanity...

At a farm in Ky there were about 40 cows under a shed with a tin roof and no sides. I stoped and walked up to the gate, and they started staring at me. One of them started mooing loudly for a moment, then all of a sudden they ALL started peeing and pooping AT THE SAME TIME. Every single one of them. It sounded like a rain forrest.

Yes, I too do the Moo. And one time I barked back at the sea lions along the CA coast...my daughter heard me barking behind me and started laughing so hard she almost crashed.

I think it's required of MTBers, too...I moo. I tell dogs "Good job!" Dogs like to do their job of barking at people on bikes. I yell at squirrels "Stoopid squirrel!" cuz they always run away from then IN FRONT OF ME! I just tell cats hello.

I also neigh at horses, baa at sheep. It is one thing to have them stare at you as you pass by, but when they respond, it is a thing of wondrous satisfaction.

I very much enjoy mooing at cows. Like many other people, I thought it was just me. Glad that others enjoy it as well.
One time, as I was riding by this farm with about 40 cows in the field, I let out a bellowing "Moooo", and a few of the cows closest to the road start running towards me and kind of along side. Now, these were dairy cows, with huge udders, seeing them running was one of the funniest things ever. I have to admit that it was a bit scary, too. That electric fence didn't seem sturdy enough to stop all of them if they decided to charge at me.
