U.S. vs Canada Tour?

Pipe dream of trans continent tour may become a reallity as I am in process of divorce. Looking forward to having my kids join me on tour by looking up posts on Crazyguy or something similar. Have toured Baha and Cuba solo pre-marriage/kids and need a goal to get my fat depressed but in gear. I think I would like to camp or stay with local families mostly but have no problem staying in hotel occasionally. What are your thoughts on what would be the better tour. I am american living in Seattle, WA. Thanks for your input.

You could do both: a few sections in each countries! Many people find the Northern Ontario trip quite hard (few people, lots of bugs...) so you could adapt your itinerary accordingly by going south of the Great Lakes... crossing to Ontario around Detroit or Niagara Falls. Maybe it is because I grew up there but I think the Saint-Lawrence valley (Quebec) is worth the detour.

Great project by the way!

Hi CL: You mentioned you might like to stay with local families. I just came across this site the other day: www.warmshowers.org Several thousand people have registered who are willing to help you; it may be as little as giving you a patch of grass for the night to set up your tent, to as much as providing you with meals and the guest bedroom. The only catch is they want you to be willing to reciprocate.
