It is catagorized as a fitness/sport/light tourer from 1989. At 21.5 lbs it was fairly light. Some people raced them.

my buddy went on a goose chase for me today...

picked up a 1983 912 for $200

and my 1984 610 for $200...

miyata610 how did the conversion to 700c work? did you get to use stock brakes? (i'm new so forgive the newness)

I don't care about the missing saddle or pedals I'll take care of that...

I'm a clyde 6'6" 270 atm (down from 300 after cycling for a month) so I am super excited about the triple up front...

I'll get some more pics up later!!

You're going to love that bike. I've got a Miyata 1000 and wouldn't trade it for half a dozen new bikes.

Zombie thread
, but the stem mount shifters were standard for a few years. 1981, for example:

I rescued the 610. Planning a 700c conversion, Brooks, drop the aero bars. Not sure what else. Might even leave the stem shifters.

Bikes: A few...

I've got a '84 Miyata-built Univega Gran Tourismo - pretty much the same as a Miyata 610 of the same year. Miyata constantly upgraded the frame and components through the '80s Miyata Bicycle Catalogs . The Uni is double-butted CrMo frame, with a Mangalloy fork, canti brakes, mid-fork rack mounts, etc. I've upgraded mine to a six-speed ultra-spaced SunTour 13-26 freewheel, SunTour barcons and VO facette fenders.
