Women Riders please help for my wife in choosing a bike

My wife is looking for a bike and she is quite frustrated as she does not find a lot of info specifically for women. She is from Denmark, so she basically was riding since she can remember, she used a DK made bike euro style. She wants to use the bike for city and touring and as opossed to Copenhague we have lots of hills where we live. She is about 6' which will mean a large frame. She does not want a mans frame nor does she want a granny bike. I have shown her some hybrids and she was trying out a Randonee in REI but she said that was a mans frame although she liked the bike. You see, when we been in Copenhaguen we have used bike rentals instead of car rental and its not unsual to even go to a new years eve formal party wearing tuxedo and dress in a bike and next day go for a weekend of touring in the bike. I will greatly thank you if you could give us some alternatives and /or point us in the direction where we cold find more info. Thanks!!!
BTW Happy 2007 everyone!!!
May the wind be on your back and all your roads on a downhill !!!!

Here in the United States good quality "step through" bicycles are not easy to find especially in a size for a 6' tall danish woman ( you lucky guy!) The few quality step through bikes are often called "urban bikes " here.

I was in a shop not long ago that had "Breezer Bicycles" The "Uptown" model is similar to what I built for my wife. Not a bike you would likely take on a week long tour in the mountains, but the 8 spd Shimano hub has a pretty good gear range

Trek has (had?) a couple of hybrids with low top tubes that might work also . https://www2.trekbikes.com/

If you want to spend some money on her ( and you should, you lucky guy!) A " Bike Friday" would probably work also and you can ride it anywhere
Bike Friday is at https://www.bikefriday.com/

Another good possibility would be a Moulton which have been in production for over 40 years in the UK. https://www.alexmoulton.co.uk/

Can you import a bike from Denmark? It might be worth the effort. Velonomad is right; we don't have the same bikes here. I personally like the "men's" bikes, so, I don't have any other suggestions.

So by "a man's frame" she means one with a horizontal top tube ... as opposed to one with a woman's ergonomics.

My wife and I like out Bike Fridays. It certainly has a low stepover if that is what you are looking for. But they are quite pricey since they are designed to be packed into suitcases (and can fold). The Moultons are great bikes; but they are even more expensive the the Bike Fridays.

My wife also has a Jamis feminine bike but I think it falls under the category of man's frame.

Perhaps you could show her the Terry Bicycles homepage. Maybe it might convince her that the horizontal top tube is not necessarily a man's fame.

Thanks for your answers...
By a mans frame I refer to the horizontal top tube?? the answer is yes... as she says ..you cant mount the bike wearing a tight skirt....
I'm including a link to what she is use to... maybe we will have to import it from DK unless we could get something similar... I think the breezer is a great recomendation....
Any other ideas..

Here is the Bike that the OP is looking for in a similar US model.

Look at the contrast between the Giant Netherlands bike catalog and Giant USA bike catalog, You folks in Europe get practical transportation. Us folks in the US get toys to decorate the back of our SUV's

WOW Amazing !!! This is why marketing research & market segmentation is ruining the world we live in !!! The expedition is indeed the bike we would like to get, but unfortunately we cant get it in the US. Velonomad u r so right it is quite a different catalog , I cant even find the same frame as the expedition in any of the bikes. You would think that a least they would produce same frame with different names and equipment... I will write to the company see what they say....

Check out the Specialized Globe City. There are two different womens models to choose from. This is from the Specialized USA website. This is the closest thing to a normal European bike like your wife wants that I have seen by a major American bicycle company. Good luck.

Way to go Ziemas! That is a pretty good setup for $880 MSRP, Mostly Deore, 48x36x26 crankset, Nimbus tires, dyno hub and lights.

Someone already mentioned the Breezer Uptown, but she might also look at the Breezer "range bikes", the Greenway or the Liberty. I have a greenway. While they aren't quite "step-through" frames, but they do have a lower top tube than a normal "mens" bike, and while I (being a man) don't ride in tight skirts very often, I think it might be possible on the greenway or liberty.
