Bike Virginia Tour Hopewell and Williamsburg

I just signed up for 2007 Bike Virginia. It's a kinda hybrid "tour" in that ther are 2 days in Hopewell, a ride to Williamsburg Day 2, 3 days in Williamsburg, and then last day back to Hopewell. It makes for a great tour when you don't want to pack and unpack and set up/ break down each day. And the historic sites in area of Revolutionary and Civil War vintage sites will be outstanding. Most of the rides are 25-60 miles long so no huge mileage. And, if it's raining, you don't have to ride unless it's the Hopewell to Williamsburg or Williamsburg to Hopewell days. My kind of "tour". Looks like they usually get around 1,800 riders. They expect 2,000 this year, and are cutting off registration at 2,000. Since this will be an easier tour, and the area of the rides is very scenic and popular, I think they may sell out this year.

Anybody else going?

We cycled on Bike Virginia last year. It was flat last year. My husband only does one bike tour per year. Last year he remembers the vineyard with the chocolate fountain and the rest area at a NASCAR drivers' home. (Sorry, I'm not into racing and forgot his name, but his car was on display.) This year is a great year to bring the non-riding spouse or kids/grandkids. They can ride every other day. Week long bike trips are great, there is support if you need it, and the routes are interesting areas of the state.

I'll be there. My team is taking the year off from RAGBRAI so I chose this as an alternative since I can stay a few extra days and visit family locally.
