Jibi, thanks I'm with you on most of your suggestions, (I need tubes for the BOB!) I like Katydyn water filters, either way I can't imagine anything more important than a good water filter.

Tom, good advise, especially for those that are packin.

Roadfix, do you know where I can find a XT750 rear derailleur?

You know this same question could be asked, If you were planning a tour from Prudhoe Bay all the way to Patagonia, without a bike store in between, how would you outfit your bike and with what bike?

That's exactly how I came up with my list( except for the bike store bit)
