Good question. I have the same jacket with the same problem, and Kyle at Showers Pass admitted to me that is defective material. They switched from a rubberized material to a neoprene material without actually testing if the neoprene shed or absorbed water.

Interestingly Kyle also told me that this is the first that they have heard of the problem. I wonder if the OP notified them about it or not?

The jacket is in fact faulty, and it's not just a matter of personal preference. Please see post #27.
