Seatpost options

I'm in the market for a longer 26.2 seatpost and considering a setback to improve my position relative to the handlebars
I read somewhere that a setback puts you in a less efficient pedaling position, but I can't recall the source.
I'm also considering a suspension seatpost.
Any comments on either of these options for touring ?

You might find moving the seat back lowers the range of your cadence that feels the most smooth. Not necessarily making you mash the pedals, but more like you're 'pedaling squares' rather than circles.

You could also use a longer stem if you're looking for a bit more room.

I've had suspension posts on a couple of bikes - found it easier to use the saddle as a saddle, not a seat.
