cycling in Denmark
We are a family of 5 arriving in Billund in Denmark to do a weeks cycling. We need to hire touring bikes for the week and intend cycling about 300 miles. I can't seem to find any bike hire places near the airport we arrive at can anyone suggest somewhere for us? Three of us are adults and could take our own bikes but still need 2 more for my teenage kids and reluctant to buy them ones just for the trip because they woudn't use them much back home and really need decent ones for such a long journey.
Thanks

Hello. Did this trip some few yrs ago, not sure if you can rent bikes in the area, Billund is a small place but then Denmark is full of bikes..
You land on a small airport on a bi field, easy to go to "town" on bikes, not far. Flat area, not many gears needed..
What about buying some folders for the kids? Can be used for years (they do not outgrow them), and can also be used by adults later. Sounds strange to me kids not riding bikes though..
Some hotels in the nearest "town" becouse of Legoland, but not sure if they rent out bikes, especially if you are not staying in the hotel. Can remember a bikeshop, but do not know if they rent out bikes.
Folders you can manage to send as normal lugage, no extra charge for bikes unless the weight is to much.
Try to visit the "folding" forum.

Did you find this site? Should be possible to find the nearest place to rent and also things to look at from this site. This is for the whole of Denmark, but search for right region and you should be ok.

Bikes: A few
Just found this on that web site. "Bike rentals and transportation
You can rent a bike anywhere in Denmark on a daily or weekly basis. The local tourist office will direct you to the nearest bicycle rental agency. If you would like to bike in different areas of Denmark, but do not want to go from one area to the next, there is always the train. Regional trains carry bicycles without a reservation - so you can rest your feet while the landscape rolls by. Both the cyclist and the bike must have a ticket."
Looks like badmother has been good to you.

This looks useful too:

I cycled Denmark a couple of years ago, almost the entire country. Beautiful country, wonderful people, bicycles are greatly respected. Would be Utopia if it hadn't rained almost every day of our 3-week trip. But I still loved it anyway!

Thanks for the advice
I had found the website and it has a great map of where all the bike hire places are and when I saw there were none near Billund I decided to try a bike forum and so joined this one.
The kids do have bikes but they are BMX and not suitable for the 50+ miles we usually cycle in a day so thought they would need decent ones.
wish I had booked flighte to copenhagen now but too late!
will try theBillund tourist office E mail you have given me
Thanks again for help

Billund isn't so big, but as the home of LegoLand, it has a lot of tourist stuff.
Here is a hotel that rents bikes for 50 crowns a day (but you probably have to stay there at least one night, I suppose):

Fricykler is a popular bike store in Denmark. No idea if the rent bikes, but they will know someone who does -- try them first:

Fri Cykler - Billund
Cykellageret Billund ApS
Granvej 2A
7190 Billund
Tlf. 75331203
cykellageret@mail.dk
Here is a local bike club in Billund. They can probably put you in touch with someone:
https://www.bicm.dk/
Otherwise, there are plenty of places in Vejle that will rent bikes. You can take a bus from the airport to the train station, and the train to Vejle. Keywords for searching:
bike = cykel
to rent = at leje
bike shop = cykelhandel
Have fun!

A huge list of bike shops (you'll need a map to figure out how close they are to Billund):
