Electric bicycle touring in Switzerland ?!
Bike Switzerland is going to be offering electric bicycles on our trips this summer. We reckon that electric bicycles would allow our clients to keep up with otherwise stronger friends and spouses. We're also hoping to attract friends and spouses who are less enthusiastic cyclists.
We're looking at Biketec's Flyer models (Swiss). Their batteries have enough power to allow someone to pedal with electric assistance for around 40 kilometers; our days average about 80 kilometers and so we would have an extra battery for anyone who would want to do a full day of riding.
I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has ridden this electric bike or similar ones. I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone with a non-commuter experience (has anyone toured with one ?). Also, please tell me if there's anything you think I'm overlooking or not considering.
You might like to know a little bit more about the concept. You'll find a link to the latest newsletter (below) which announces our plans.
Thanks,
John
