Canvas saddle bag
I want a big canvas or waxed cotten bag for a rear rack, Grant petersens Paladin is perfect but just costs too much money
https://www.rivbike.com/products/list...product=20-169
I found this frost river gunflint bag and it looks similar but seems a bit smaller. It looks like it might be arount the same size as rivendell's country bag. Does anyone know of a nice deciently priced big canvas bag?

check out carradice's line of canvas saddlebags. i have a lowsaddle longflap (cost me about $135) which has recently held these loads very well:
- lock, spare tube, pump, tire levers, rain jacket, a sizeable packed lunch, extra shirt
- lock, six ears of corn, a cantaloupe, two cans of black beans, an avocado, and a package of tortillas
- lock, 12 pack of beer (Dale's Pale Ale, which is great!)
- lock, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, spare shirt and shorts

I agree with previous posts, if you want a big saddlebag go with Carradice, cheaper than Rivendell and more utilitarian.

If you are a fan of all things Grant Petersen you might be a member of the Bridgestone Owners Bunch (BOB). It helps if you own a Bridgestone, but if you have a Rivendell or just like bikes of similar style that counts too.
BOB members often seen as "retro-grouches" by other cyclist as they hate carbon, lycra, and steep frame angles. Many still don't seen the need for cassettes when they still have perfectly good 6 speed freewheels.
PS Saddlebags are very BOBish, particularly if they are made from cotton duck and have buckles. Take a look at the Carradice Nelson Longflap, the Camper and the Super C Saddlebag. The last 2 are enormous, I tour with a Nelson Longflap.
