Tour bike recommendations
I'm just getting into biking and recently bought an entry level road bike (Trek 1.5) to get in shape. Ultimately, I'd like to do some touring and wondered what type of bike is recommended for someone on a budget of $1000 or less. I must sell some drum equipment to finance anything and hope to get the $1000 to spend on a good touring bike.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

(1) Read the stickies at the top of the Touring forum main page
(2) Don't sell the drums, burn them
(3) Your choice of Surly LHT, Cannondale T800/T1/Classic, Trek 520, Thorn Sherpa or Raven, Fuji or Allegro or Windsor touring, Bianchi Volpe, Jamis Aurora, Koga Miyata world traveller or randonneur. Or any bike with strong frame and wheels, comfortable for you, that will carry the load.
