Bikes: I tour on a Waterford Adventurecycle. It is a fabulous touring bike.

Alternative route through San Francisco

The ACA's Pacific Coast route through San Francsico from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Great Highway (road south to Pacifica) goes along a busy and lumpy Lincoln Blvd and then through city streets. While Lincoln Blvd goes along the coast, it can be busy.

My usual bike ride takes me to and from the Golden Gate Bridge using an alternative route that goes through Golden Gate park and the Presido, which is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. In my opinion, this alternative is less lumpy, more scenic, and keeps off city streets. The one street it uses, has a bike lane for its entire length.

I've created a bikely.com page showing this alternative route.
