Minneapolis to ______?

Hey folks, I have very little planned for this august and I'm thinking about doing some touring. I pretty much have all month until september when school starts up again. Anyone from around here know of any good routes to take? Colorado has a certain draw for some reason, but a trip around superior/michigan would be mighty nice too.

Also, as I don't really know anyone that bikes, if anyone in this area would be interested in joining the adventure I'd be good for that. Get a little boring talking to myself all day.

I like the ride up to Duluth, but not around the lake, because I have an allergy to speeding vehicles close to me. I think that there are a few nice trips to be had going south too. You can follow the Mississippi and cross into Wisconsin. Wisconsin has a higher percentage of paved country roads, so there is that advantage to crossing over the border.

I plan to take a couple day ride with my 8 ang 9 year olds, but I sure would like to take a nonfamily ride too. We'll see if I can swing it with the boss... I mean wife.
