Excellent point, and something I'm working on. Rowan keeps telling me, "They have stores in ... " when I'm tempted to bring absolutely everything with me. This is especially true for things like toiletries, and even clothing.

When Rowan and I went to Europe in 2007, we hardly brought any clothing with us (just a few basic items) and we didn't bring a tent, even though we were planning to camp. One of the first things we did was to visit a Decathlon shop over there, where we picked up a tent. Several more Decathlon stores later we had a wardrobe and a bunch of other cycling stuff.
