cyclıng tour ın turkey
Dear cyclists,
As a commuting vehicle and a tourism alternative, Mugla Cycling Association believes bicycle is a chain ring in solving individual and social health problems as well as we believe in the necessity of protecting environmental, social and human health. We are organizing ‘GOKOVA CYCLING TOUR’ on May 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, and 23rd 2010 this year for the third time after 2007 and 2009. Dedicated to peace, this international meeting is taking place around the fascinating Gokova Gulf in Turkey.
Starting this tour on 19 May Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day will add a great value to its philosophy. We would like to repeat this event every year in an international festival atmosphere .
This year has been declared as "2010 Year of Japan in Turkey". The friendship between Japan and Turkey goes back to 1890 when the Ottoman frigate ‘Ertugrul’ visited Japan and had an accident and sinked. In the 120th anniversary of this event we would like to make contribution to increase the sportive and cultural cooperations between two countries. We believe our country and Japan which plays an important role in the stability of the world can step forward on many more fields on the basis of this historical friendship.
Gokova Cycling Tour 2010 is not just a cycling tour. First of all we aim cyclists to consider themselves as participants but not clients. The cyclists will not only have a holiday during this tour but they will also think about the problems of the cyclists, share their ideas and contribute to the philosophy of the tour.
In this tour we would also like to bring the cycling associations, cycling groups and individual cyclists together and to come to a conclusion about how to unite all these groups and associations.
In the evenings during the tour we would like to have discussions on bicycle as a transportation model and attract the consideration of local governments with the important names participating these discussions.
We think that this meeting will give us all the opportunity to show us and say we are here, to utter the problems and solutions of cycling society. And we believe that these solutions will also help solve some other social problems of the whole society.
This is a complete responsibility of all cycling enthusiasts not only of the ones in Mugla of course.
We are also working on opening a photography exhibition that all the participants will contribute with their photos at the end of this tour.
We will have our breaks and overnight stays at the most beautiful bays, and you will be able to see the remote and secret areas, olive trees and pine forests along with the local culture.
You will taste the herbal teas, dip your bread into the bitter olive oil and you will not desire to leave the place.
You will love Aegean Region.
You will love Turkey…
You will be able to find all the details and the application form in both English and Turkish on our website www.muglabisiklet. org
Greetings and love to you all…
Please visit our website www.muglabisiklet.org for further information about the tour.
