Mummy vs Rectangular bag
5 month tour. June to November (last 2 months on west coast). Husband and wife.
Need to update bags for this tour. Mummy is warmer, Rectangular when zipped together allows snuggling and room.
Thoughts?

Consider one large rectangular bag and plan to use it as a quilt over two large sleeping pads (77x25)

Consider this in view of how wide your tent is.

that's a smart idea. Two people under a comforter can be very warm as long as the insulation on the floor is good.
Two large neo air mattresses and a rectangular down bag would weigh 4 1/2 lbs.

The NeoAir at R 2.5 keeps one person at least warm to 25F. Less pricey and warmer (but much heavier) would be the Synmat 7 Deluxe. Cushy! Depends on the trip.

Wife and I have been using the Feathered Friends ground sheet + rectangular for several years. Excellent! Look at the groundsheets on their website. The groundsheet pockets on ours are sized for full-length ThermaRest pads. I wasn't aware of the NeoAir ThermaRest pads. Maybe we'll have to upgrade!
Only problem is that the groundsheet is nylon and sticks to bare skin, so now we have to sleep in shorts and T-shirts, but that's not the end of the world.

Thanks everyone for responses. Unzipping a bag and using as "comforter" + having option to zip 2 bags together + option to use bags separately sounds good. Wanted to save $ so I ordered the down bag mentioned in this thread:
