Third time's the charm I guess?

If I remember correctly, the last time you posted you were trying to get me to take 32 spoke wheels, so I didn't pay much attention to it. Sorry, but it's the truth.

If they come in 36 there, (and cheap!) then I'm all about it...

Well, ladies & gentlemen, it's almost done! (minus a set of panniers and racks... current Trek rack is just temporary)... I bought some wheels and bar end shifters for it, and my Tektro long-pull levers finally came in. Handlebars came off of a Specialized cross bike. Oh, and the tires will be Marathons at some point in the not-too-distant future.

Rides beautifully, and the bar-end shifters are made of gold-pressed awesome... VERY happy with how it turned out.

There are bolts on the seat stays to attach a rack, but if I do so it interferes with the cable routing of the V-brakes, so I put the Trek rack on so it could mount to the brake bridge instead. But this thing's flimsy... so to any other Nashbar owners who used V-brakes... what rear rack did you end up using?

I'm glad that it all came together for you.

My own build has stalled. I was waiting for my Moustache Bars to arrive, and then when they did, I couldn't find my barcons...I'll probably find them after the next set I ordered to replace them comes in (Isn't that just the way of things?).

I also ordered the trekking bars (just in case) and some natural colored cork tape (can't find it in the shops here).
Maybe I'll have it the rest of the way built in a couple weeks. (I'll post some pics).

I've been pleasantly pleased with the ride of the Nashbar touring frames, though.

I wonder if I'm ever gonna get this build together. The bars and tape came in, I bought another set of barcons (grrr), and I got everything laid out to start working....
Then I found that one of my brake levers was missing an interior stop for the cable housing. And the FD (that I thought was a top swing and wasn't) wasn't going to work.
No problem....I'll cannibalize the levers and FD from one of the builds I did that was too small....my chain tool is in the van (at the mechanic's shop).
After putting away the partially disassembled / assembled bikes and the tools I'd killed several hours, and retired to the comfort of the AC in the house, muttering dire imprecations with a black cloud floating over my head.
It'll take me awhile to regroup.
I wonder if this build was meant to be...

I too have been on the verge of having my Nashbar build completed for some many months now. Cables, chain and one last check of everything. Maybe a hours work or so -- and yet it waits.

I keep getting side tracked finishing up some flip bikes, in my quest to open up some room in the garage.

Also, even though this beast is heavy as hell and has mountain bike gearing, I kept up with one of the triathlon ladies on her carbon bike during the group ride last night! 24mph on the flats... not too shabby! I must be improving despite myself, because I didn't even do that well on my Trek back when it was alive...

It's amazing what you can do on a bike that actually fits.

Hokay. So...

Today I re-shod the beast, got it a new rear-rack (with bag!), and some new bottle cages (Dimension, because Walmart doesn't carry the Bell fake CF cages anymore... boo!).

We're waiting on a front rack to come in to the LBS next week, and then we're done!

@mijome07: I like those brake levers just fine! It took a bit of getting used to because they're wider than normal handles and require a little bit more force to pull since they're v-brakes, but I got used to it pretty quick. I can actually comfortably ride with them without gloves (I forgot mine on a recent ride with the gf) and not get blisters, so that's a step up from my old levers.

@Layladylay: Come on now, Lady Lay... a girl's gotta keep some mystery, right? But I promise I'll post drive-side pics as soon as I get it completely done. Meaning front rack, panniers, fenders, and if I decide to put aero-bars on it, aero-bars.
