Appropriate replacement saddle for a Trek 720?

I just picked up a '83 720 in my size and it had no seat post or saddle. I know it originally had an Avocet but going with original equipment is not required as other things have already been changed on the bike.
What's a decent replacement that will look like it belongs on a touring bike? (the Concor and 3TTT seat post are just stand ins)

I might need to replace the Huret rear derailleur as well but not sure yet. I will know after making some adjustments.

You need to try out a few saddles to determine which fits you best. This subject comes up a lot in this forum in fact I've brought it up myself but no one can answer your question but you. Some good brands are: Terry, Brooks, Specialized BG, Sella just to name a few but because no one but you has to sit on it, it's difficult for anyone to say what is best.

Beautiful bike! It also came with a Brooks Pro which I have an original one of but as a Brooks fan, I never got use to the Pro. If you go Brooks I would personally recommend the B17 Champion Special with Ti rails, a very classy saddle for a very classy bike. I am so jealous btw and would do unspeakable acts for that bike!

I know about looking long and hard to find something that fits my butt. I was just thinking about aesthetics since a racy looking saddle wouldn't do and I plan to sit for a long period of time.

I will find someone that owns a Brooks and see if my butt can handle it. Thanks for the input.

I'll second this . I'm not so sure one chooses a saddle, rather..... the saddle will tell you if it's right for your rear. I would not worry about the vanity of it all.

If it came wit ha Avocet Touring saddle, and it fit you well, replacements for these would be similar width, with a flattish rear. Brooks isn't flat in the rear .... at all. Avocet is still in business BTW, and they told me they were going top start production of some more saddles this year, but I don't know what became of it. Try calling or emailing them. https://www.avocet.com/directory.html

The most flat saddle that fits like the Avocet Touring saddle I found(and I tried many) is the Lookin Mod saddle. https://www.rei.com/product/768501 I got over "the look" real fast as my rear loves it. I ride without padded shorts however(like you could with the old Touring saddle), so if you wear padded shorts you may want a firmer saddle.
