A slighty wider tire on this bike?

Could a slightly wider tire fit this bike and be better for touring?
If so any suggestions for size and kind of tire and tube?

You could try 700 x 28's.
Some bikes would have room for 28's

What is on the tire sidewall, as to the size now on the bike?

The tires are Continental Ultra 2000 700*23. I want some new, prefer a little wider tire for touring.

I have Ritchey Pro wheels and I went from both 23's to front Randoneer 28 and rear Randoneer 32 (I pull a Bob trailer) and what a difference in ride! Rolling resistance tradeoff? Pretty insignificant for the ride comfort tradeoff. (if I want to go light and fast, I get out the Pinarello....touring asks for different equipment than "day rides with the boys").

I looked up the Randoneer tires and they seem pretty reasonable. Do they hold up well to flats etc.?
