US Bike Route 1 in VA or Highway 1
I'm looking for a good map of USBR 1 in Virginia. I ordered the map from the state and it sucks. Anyone know where I can find a good map or a Google Earth KML file?
Also, I was searching through MapMyRide and found someone has a route there that goes from Fredericksburg to Richmond (Ashland) but instead of using USBR 1, they ride on Highway 1 most of the way. Anyone tried riding on Rt. 1 (Highway 1) anywhere from DC to Richmond?
Thanks,
Matt

https://www.openstreetmap.org/ has it bike route 1 mapped out nicely, I think. Just use the Cycle Map base layer.
The portions of US Rte. 1 I've driven on between here and Fredericksburg are NOT the kinds of places I'd want to be on a bicycle. I can't speak for stretches further south, though Google Maps street view shows little or no shoulder for long strecthes, and it's a 4 lane road w/ a 55 mph speed limit. I'm also guessing it's fairly well traveled, even if 95 is nearby most of the time. Not my cup of tea. YMMV.

Thanks for the tip. I looked at openstreets and they do have USBR1 marked. It follows ACA Atlantic Coast route in a lot of places. I think I'm going to try a mix of the two routes plus a couple routes I found on MapMyRide.

Glad I could help! Good luck with the tour!
I've been looking to at possible routes, too, to figure out how I might go about riding from DC to my sister or parents in Hampton, VA or Eliz. City, NC respectively. That won't be happening anytime soon, though. Maybe next year...

Good suggestion for the regional page. I just posted over there but since this is a tour and many people here have toured or live in that area, I think it works here too.
Here's the questionable part of my route as it stands now if anyone wants to comment.
