Good Morning America is on the ABC network. In some locations, it might be bumped for a Jerry Lewis Telethon. For example, I live in Madison WI and the telethon is on the ABC affiliate on Monday morning, but in Milwaukee WI the telethon is on the CBS affiliate. It appears that the telethon may bump Good Morning America in some locations but not in others.

Which network? I looked at the TV listings and saw "The Early Show" on CBS, "Today" on NBC and on ABC a Jerry Lewis Telethon. I am not sure how to set my recorder, CBS or NBC?

My DVR is set to record it Nancy! Can't wait! BTW the Monkee mobile is doing great! We still ride it regularly!

Hi Nancy. Just watched the segment. You and your family are a true inspiration.

I also saw the interview. You came off great. The interviewer not so good. He should know better than to ask 12-year-old boys questions that can be answered with a yes or no. I noticed that they focused on the education of your boys issue that some have questioned, but they seemed to support your choice, as I have. Good luck and pleasant weather (with tailwinds) on the rest of your journey.

Soon you're going to have to face the question: What do we do now? I'm wondering what kind of withdrawals you're going to have when you come off the road. I always have withdrawals after a tour, and mine usually only last for 3 or 4 weeks!

Hi Nancy, I recorded GMA today on Tivo and just finished watching it. Great job.

I was fast-forwarding through the entire show to find your segment, and I thought your segment made an interesting companion to 2 other pieces about what Americans are up to these days:

1. First, a piece about how women (in particular) are obsessed with playing the game Farmville on Facebook. They mentioned in particular that one woman stopped exercising and gained 10 pounds after starting to play the game.

2. Second, a piece about how one of the hosts on the show has committed to getting fit, and is entering a triathlon next week. She's been training all summer, and enlisting GMA viewers, colleagues and friends to join her. She shared stories from viewers who have been inspired to start exercising, lose weight, etc.

3. Third, there was a family cycling from Alasaka to Argentina....

Interesting juxtaposition -- we all make interesting choices. We can travel around the world; stay fit in our own communities, or play Farmville....

thanks all! I also noticed the choice of stories for today - an interesting combination. We all agree that it was hard to answer the questions - they weren't really questions so much as statements that we were expected to respond to. John and I could do that, but the boys had a really hard time knowing what to say - they are quite good at answering questions, but not good at elaborating on a statement. Oh well, it is what it is!

I take my 4th, 5th, and 6th grade choir to perform on a telethon every year to raise money for the schools. After we sing they tell parents that if they'll phone in a pledge, they'll interview their kids. Some of the adults are better than others; most ask inane questions that can be answered yes, no, or I don't know.

I once had a state senator respond to my students' "Write to an Elected Official" questions by coming in person to my classroom to dialogue with the kids. We spent considerable time brainstorming questions before he got there. We came off sounding intelligent and prepared, and the senator was very impressed. Too bad the GMA interviewers didn't put a little more thought into it.

Still, kudos to them for putting you guys and your compelling story on national TV. If more people went bike touring (including kids) I think it would be a good thing.

We did a preliminary interview with a writer for GMA and the writer passed on the questions to us. He had written up the questions he asked us along with our answers and gave that to the anchor. Thatīs all the anchor had for information.

We were expecting the anchor to ask basically the same questions that we had in the preliminary interview, but he went in a totally different direction. It was fine for John and me, but the kids didnīt know where to go with the questions.

Oh well!!

It look like they did not know how to ask anything right lol.The four of you did good tho.And your BoB Yak was flying too.You are right it's a job pulling one until you get use to it.Mine is getting better here.Don't know if I could do what you all are doing but it's got to be a lot of fun at times.So whats next after this trip?

Great piece. I thought you all did fine. I also thought the interviewer did a good job as well. Yes, he put the boys in an awkward spot, but some kids like to elaborate and others don't. The good thing that he did was to portray your family and your choices in a positive light, especially by allowing John to explain that you both are teachers and that the boys are getting a great education. I think most people would come away from that feeling good about what you're doing instead of harboring some of the more negative concerns.

I was happy that they focused on the positive - I've heard too much of tthe criticism lately. I also love that he targeted individual people to respond rather than leaving it open - it's hard to know who should respond when they leave it open.
