People like what they like. That's why there are so many models. Good thing too.

Thanks for the kind words about our products.
I would like to announce a New Lower Price on the BLT Frame kit. It includes a Frame, Fork, Headset, & Stem made in Taiwan + Front and Rear Bruce Gordon Racks made in California - https://www.bgcycles.com/blt.html
The New Price is $750 + shipping and handling.
I can also sell a parts package to complete the frame pack into a complete Shimano SLX bike (with XT Hubs) for an additional $975.
Any questions - feel free to give us a call.
Regards,
Bruce Gordon

That's a really nice price!

Fishgirl, if you want a light touring/comfortable bike you won't do better than Rivendell. They are a bit pricey, but they'll work with you to put a bike together just the way you want it and if you tell us where you're located I'm sure the forum can recommend a good bike shop in your city.

I've noticed some anti-LHT sentiments expressed on this forum. My guess is that it's due in part to the preponderance of people recommending the LHT when there are so many other good tourers out there. I would agree. I don't contend that my LHT is the superior model - just that it's darn good. I wish I had enough money to include a few others in my stable so I could really see which I liked best. My list would include a Co-Motion Americano, a Cannondale, a Bruce Gordon, a Rivendell, a Rocky Mountain Sherpa, a Novara Randonee, a Salsa Casseroll (is that the one?), a Fuji tourist, a Windsor, a Trek 520..... Hm, my little brain is running short. I'm sure there are more. Who is that that makes a titanium tourer?

Alas. My budget only allows on tourer. I'm very glad to have my LHT!

Well she asked for a frame that was lighter than her old C'dale. Of course someone had to chime in with LHT. Without getting into a debate over the pluses and minuses of the LHT, the LHT is going to be considerably heavier. I think it is great that you enjoy your LHT. Cheers.

Bikes: '02 Raleigh C40, '10 Fuji Touring, and a refurbished '82 (I think) Motobecane Grand Touring

Nicole, the Fuji Touring is a steel frame bike at 29 lbs., which is lighter than my aluminum hybrid. Mine is a 2010, it's a well made bike at a very reasonable price, certainly worth taking a look at. I researched quite a few bikes, considered new and used, I am really happy with the choice I made. It is a smooth ride, loaded or not. Good luck in your search.
