My son and I took a short trip in NY last week, fortunately he is the same size as me and was able to ride my my monstercross setup. I left it single speed as the terrain was flat , gearing low and we were traveling light.

Took my '79 Raliegh Super Record on a rainy 60 mile ride to my family's summer home in southwestern Michigan.. This bike wasn't very "Super" when I got it. I think it lives up to the name now. I swapped the beat up steel 27" 5 speed wheelset for a 7 speed 700c freewheel rear wheel from an early 90's hybrid featuring a 34t granny gear. I swapped the forged square taper crankset for a 90's 105 road triple and sealed bb. I replaced the friction stem shifters with campy clamp on dt shifters.
I am planning on using this bike to do somewhat extensive touring next year, and will ride it extensively this winter to work the gremlins out. (Haven't found any yet)

This is my Civia Bryant belt drive at the start of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) Trail in Cumberland, MD. This was a weekend bike camp trip with everything minus food and cooking gear. The GAP Trail has lots of good food along the way.

Here is my 420 which made it 6k miles from DC to Washington State, the long way before the frame failed.
another angle showing the "Dog" feature.
This is the replacement 520 that made it back to the East, still the long way around.

*Sigh* Maybe I'd regret it if I sold the old wench! ... But only if I didn't build something better.
From the Tokyo - Hokkaido tour, 2010 Trek 520.
Notice how by the end of the tour I'd gotten down to two panniers...! If only I'd done that before going up that mountain range...

Found this early '80s Bianchi Randonneur on craigslist for $100. Sketchy black rattlecan paint job. Frame was out of alignment & lots of janky parts. Did some research & found out it had one of the recall forks, had to replace with a cheapo crmo hybrid fork. I got it re-aligned & swapped in a mishmash of my extra parts, bought some fenders, racks, and now everything works perfect & it is killer...I am ready for some missions! First loaded test ride in camping configuration, Baby Taylor acoustic bungee'd to the NDS. Front rack: Old man mountain; Rear rack: Jandd expedition
