It just does that when it's windy - that map case has two snap-ons in the front and when you get strong enough tail wind it flops over like that. The pic was taken in Bolivia, right before Potosi coming up from Uyuni - about 60 kilometers south of Potosi.

Randonee w/Tubus & Ortlieb
Maiden voyage with the new Novara Randonee with Tubus racks and Ortlieb bags. I took Metra from River Forest to Elburn, rode to Dekalb and down to Shabbona, and camped at Shabbona. Next morning rode back to Elburn for the train back to River Forest. 85 miles total, but it sure felt like more than that with the load (that I'm not used to) and the 15-20mph northwest wind.

Beautiful bike and squeaky clean campsite! And those diagonal tubes running from rear axle to head tube are very interesting. : )

Very Fully Loaded S24O:
Surly LHT 08, Carradice Saddle bag and some borrowed Ortliebs, all on Surly Nice Racks. Pulling Pacific Trailer and two little boys. My wife (who I am trying to indoctrinate) was allowed to carry only her stuff.
Me, pulling tent, sleeping bags/mats and clothes for three people, and the three people. We rode 50kms yesterday and then returned today. Hottest days of the year so far, I think. Spring has sprung.

Your last comment makes me a bit sad. Here, fall has fallen.

Very nice and proof that you don't need an lht to go touring Has it got a geared hub and I don't know whether my eyes are playing tricks but is the front wheel smaller than the rear? The straw hat is a nice touch too.

Wow
Found this 1984 Lotus Odyssey at the Slavation Army. It will be nice to have a more civilized touring bike than my trekking ATB. Fresh from a complete overhaul and handlebar upgrade. There is a more detailed description of the rehab over on the Classics and Vintage forum.

Grimey - Nice to see an Iowan in the mix here. I currently live in WDM but lived in Ames when I went to ISU. Nice rig too, I have similar setup for 58cm frame. Looks like you got it loaded down good but have you wanted/needed front panniers? I don't have them either but have been contemplating getting some. How does it handle with all the weight in the rear.

this is my bike loaded up for an over-nighter, though that later got canceled. in the end it at least taught me a lesson about just how huge my bags realy are.
