Is shoulder pain normal?

you are right, has nothing to do with it, I wasnt sure how much riding you do or long rides, not a good presumption on my part...
as for lower back pain, I guess it just shows how everyone is diff, even with bikes with too much reach for me, I have never had lower back pain, upper close to neck pain, wrists etc but no lower...go figure.
Like everyone, Ive had general soreness, but for me, proper seat to bar distance makes such a big diff in overall comfort and less stiffness, soreness etc, even with my bars lower than my seat.

djb, OK, I see where you were coming from. I forget that the forum has lots of relatively inexperienced cyclists. Glad you don't have any aches and pains on long rides! I don't for the most part, either, but the lower back does get a little annoyed after a couple hours. Even stretching backwards at a stoplight goes a long way. Happy riding to you as well!
