Titanium Touring Frames
How much should I sell my used Litespeed Sportive touring frame for?
I assuming since BikeForums.net charges to post in the marketplace then it is
upon to post a classified ad here?
Not sure I get the justification for this as I assumed the forums made it's money from the paid sponser banners above and to the side, but I guess hosting a site this popular does require the $ to keep the lights on. Guess I will have to keep using the ACA forums and Craigslist.

It's a 2008 model so don't think it would classify

Litespeed/Merlin frames in good condition normally sell for $500-900 on eBay. When they were new, dealer cost on many of these was ~1300, MSRP was 1800, back in the 2000-2005 period.
Normally frames listed for >1000 never get a bid. A significant number start out low and are shilled up to the 700-900 range. Shilling has always been rampant on eBay. Many of the items I watch "sell", then weeks later are up for sale again. I saw one frame sell at least 3X. So, caveat emptor!

The best way to estimate the value of a used bike/frame is to peruse completed auctions of similar bikes on eBay. A lot depends on the condition, size and types of components. Usually you will make more money parting out a bike and selling the frame and components separately. A frame in a popular size range eg, 54-58 cm top tube, will generally sell for a better price than smaller or larger sizes. Setting a high starting price or minimum will often lower the final selling price (or result in an unsold bike) on eBay because it attracts fewer bidders. The surest way to get a good price is for a bidding war to ensue on eBay. People often get irrational and competitive in bidding wars and pay far more than an item is worth. On the other hand, the opposite can happen if an auction attracts few bidders.

Thanks for the responses, unfortunately not to many titanium touring frames in ebay completed listings and I am planning on the route of parting it out and selling the frame only. Though if I can only get pennies on the dollar for it I would rather just hang on to it.
