Need bike shop in Sacramento

Can anyone recommend a good bike shop in Sacramento to assemble our bikes for the start of our self contained tour? We plan to UPS our boxed bikes to a Sacramento shop and would prefer to use a shop that has some experience with touring bikes.

Proximity to a reasonable motel and restaurants would also be a plus. Any advice would is appreciated.

When I lived in Sacramento I had very good experiences with Natomas Bike Shop. Can't speak to their level of experience with touring bikes, guess you'll have to ask them. But I found them to be friendly, helpful, reasonable and knowledgeable, like most others who reviewed them in that Yelp link above. There are motels and restaurants in that general area as well.

Learn how to do it yourself before you start your tour. It's not that difficult or complex, and if you're doing a self-contained tour, it's a good idea to have some idea of how your bicycle goes together.

I agree with you but that's not the reason for my request. We already tear down and pack our bikes into Trico cases for shipment and then have to reassemble them on our return. Got that down pat!

We prefer to ship our bikes by UPS or Fed-Ex to a bike shop who will hold our case until our arival and then be responsible for shipping the empty case to our destination. It makes sense to allow the shop to earn something for their logisitcal support and it doesn't hurt to support a small business. Also for just alittle more than the cost of checking the bike case onto the plane, I can UPS the case to a shop and pay the shop for assembly!

So any advice on a shop in Sacramento would still be apprciated.

I have used Superpages.com to find bike shops in far off cities. I then call to get a feel for them and to pitch my question. Here's a link to bike shops in Sac.:
