looking for someone to travel with me

Hello,

I'm a bicycle lover.

I'm planing to travel in Asia (Malasya, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos) by bike on April and I'm looking for someone that would like to travel with me.

If anyone is interested please contact me or drop a line in the forum.

Thank you.

Other than knowing that you are from Brazil, do you honestly think someone will jump on the chance of traveling with a stranger? And please don't cross post. This is your third thread on this.

Sorry for breathing. I did not know that there were RULES to this sort of communication. YES I do expect that someone will be willing to travel with a stranger, because that is exactly what I am going to have to do. Travelling as a single female on a pushbike throughout Asia can be quite dangerous. Other than that I was hoping to have company. There is no need for your aggressive angst, and road rage style drama. If you are not interested in my words, please have the grace to just IGNORE them

nathalia 10-22-12 05:29 PM

Thank you Spry :)

Have you tried posting in the Touring and/or Asia forums?...might have better luck there.

Hey Nathalia,

Welcome to Bike Forums from Texas.

What bike will you be riding?

nathalia 10-22-12 06:02 PM

hello,

I will be riding a mountain bike. Because maybe I will go to Nepal as well. :)

nathalia 10-22-12 06:06 PM

Thank you for your suggestion

CbadRider 10-22-12 06:13 PM

Welcome to the forum, nathalia. I'm moving this thread to the Touring forum; I think you'll get more interest there.

nathalia 10-22-12 06:16 PM

Thank You:)

Another very good resource for bike travel is

http://wikitravel.org

with plenty of info about hotels, hostels, sightseeing, restaurants. They have the following to say about the climate in April...

Indochina (north/central Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar), the seasons can be broken down into hot, wet and dry, with the relatively cool dry season from November to February or so being the most popular with tourists. The scorching hot season that follows can see temperatures climb above 40°C in April, cooling down as the rains start around July.

You do realise you're speaking to one of the forum moderators, right?

But Siu ... she's not from Brazil, she's from Australia. Brisbane is in Queensland.

Machka 10-22-12 07:00 PM

nathalia, in Victoria there are heaps of cycletouring clubs. I presume there are lots in Queensland too. Join a cycletouring club, get to know some of the members, and then go to Asia with someone who is compatible with you.

Speaking as a female cycletourist, I wouldn't want to go on an extended tour with a complete stranger. What if you discovered that you and the complete stranger did not get along at all within the first few days of the tour?

Rowan 10-22-12 07:17 PM

I'd post something in the appropriate section on the crazyguyonabike website: www.cgoab.com

It might also be useful to post something about your own cycling experience. What tours have you done, how long you intend to take on this tour, when. People can't read your mind, and that's the sort of information that would encourage them to seek further details about such a trip.

In the guidelines that you agreed to when you signed up here, there are many rules of this site. I'm wishing you luck on your search, it seems that many of the members here have provided you with other options that might help provide for you in your search.

I have not shown aggressive angst nor road rage style drama (is there such a thing? ) so I do apologize if you are sensitive to my questioning. We have a duty to protect our membership and when someone nonchalantly asks for someone to travel with them without knowing anything about them, I will ask.

Machka, I'm not a moderator....though at times I wish I were. Oh and in one of her five crosspostings that were deleted one merged here, she said she is a Brazilian in Brisbane. *wink wink*

This is a prime example of what I mean by the membership not knowing about someone. Excellent suggestion, Rowan!

nathalia 10-22-12 09:16 PM

thank you very much

Machka 10-22-12 10:03 PM

So why has this merged thread been banished to Introductions rather than Touring?

And we're still waiting to hear what sort of cycling and touring experience you have nathalia.

Juha 10-23-12 01:49 AM

I'm not sure why this is still in Intro, maybe because of the multiple merges involved. I'm moving this now (to Touring). Carry on...
