I've done just fine with Shimano SPD sandals on tours. Exceedingly comfortable, climbed 2000 feet up Lassen Peak in them, done Pacific Grade's 24% in the Sierra, and done Truckee to Sacramento (125 hilly miles, not really recommended!) loaded in one day using them. Just two bolt SPD cleats. They are stiffer than the Nashbar Sandals.

What makes these shoes so good for you? I just read some ad copy about them and they sound good, but many bike shoes' ad copy makes similar claims, so what's really special about these?
