The idea that "because you always want the option to collapse where you stand" reminded me of many trips afield with a 3 three year old.

Just what I want - a sleeping bag that's over twice as heavy, takes up over three times the space in my panniers, and has a temperature rating over 20F worse than the one I have now.

Seems I could get the same benefit by carrying a couple extra layers of cloths. It is not about comfort, it is about survival. But if you don't remove your shoes for a couple days...
