Boom!! Checked the weather report, almost perfect weather; very little wind: 1-3 m/s cross head wind on the back straight and 21-24 degrees C. Two days off work before today, so feeling quite good. 20 min warm up, put on race gear and headed onto the track. Coming out of turn 1 on the second lap I kick drop a little, hitting close to top speed coming out of turn 2. I feel right away I'm not going as fast as I could, sit down just after the 200 to go line, keep a good line and cross the line 11.27s later (wife hand timed it).

I'm not super happy with that felt it should have gone better, our local pro give me some hinters, and I decide to try again. I take a good 10 min off, and get on the bike again. I start accelerating seated coming into turn 1, keep increasing the speed going to turn 2. Half way through I kick. Coming down the slope I squeeze a little more speed from my legs hitting 70kph just before the line. I hold the line beautifully and know right away that I've done a sub 11 when I cross the line. The wife timed it a 10.99.

At home I get video confirmation, 11.278s for the first one and 10.861s!!! for the second. The "slow" first on was a new PB and the I crushed that one. I'm one happy camper.

Congrats, man!

I especially love the fact that you used video to verify the hand-timing.

This is awesome. Congrats on making it into the "Sub-11 Club". Not many members in that one

Next "Sub-10 Club" then

Yeah the camera is no brainer to get accurate timing, human reaction speed is what it is and with 120fps you can really pinpoint the split second you hit the line.

Congrats. Your wife's timing wasn't too shabby either.

She's really good, and most importantly she errs on the side of caution. So far her times have always been slightly slower than the real time, which is how I prefer it.

Wow man good speed! Was this the same gear as 'usual' for you or did you jump to something super big for this run?

You should look at masters worlds, I think its coming up in the next couple of months.

The gearing has been getting bigger and bigger and this record was with the biggest yet. Next year or maybe still this year I need to go race at an indoor velodrome to see how fast I can go. Maybe a UCI lvl3 race in Moscow...

Too young, I'm only 32 this year. We'll see how I'm going in 2018.
