Rollers
#26
I have never had too much of a problem with tire wear on rollers but some trainers can really eat the sidewalls of your tires. I think I would be more concerned with that. I have used the same tires on my rollers for a few thousand kilometers now and still they seem to be holding up alright. I do use Kreitlers and am not sure about the wear and tear from other brands.

BTW those rollers I notice you can purchase a stand attachment (to hold the forks) this removes most of the need for balance correct? The reason I ask is my gf has very little balance and will be recovering from knee surgery. She will not be able to spin quickly or worry about balance for the first couple of months.

With rollers there is no resistance so GF can just sit and spin.
Good for the range of motion without stressing the knee.
There are 2 types that I've seen. The most common stands
over the rollers and you replace the front wheel.
The other one keeps wheels on but has attachment which
supports bike at the bars. Tacx markets it and I'm interested
in it for the wife. If I ever find one I'll let you know.
