Follow up on my carpal tunnel dilemma

My regular doc says if I go to a neuro-surgeon, he will want to operate. Surgeons like to operate, just like contractors like to build things. He suggested I go to a sports therapist before seeing a surgeon. I have made an appointment to see an sports therapist who is really into biking. He's an accomplished triathlon guy. He is going to analyze my wrist position while I have my bike on a stationary trainer. He said he has seen many bikers with this condition, and believes biking can be a major source of the problem. He said I might want to try aero-bars, where the weight is on your elbows. I'll report back to The Forum after my sports therapist appointment. Stay tuned!

I have had some degree of problems with my wrists. Mostly from lifelong computer work to manual loabour of various kinds to my days in basketball, football and now cycling. I had my doctor tell me I needed surgery or my wrist would continue swelling and hurting forever. I took that advice and focused on strenghting (initially this hurt like a beep) and stretching my wrist. Now except for the odd ache the pain is never the same and happens 3 times a year tops.

Long story short. Definately look at other options.
