Grew a new vein

I do! This morning I noticed a vein popping out ever so slightly right above my knee on the inside quadricep!

Adaptation? What grows first, big veins or little veins?

Man it's great! I feel buff for the first time in 10 years! I couldn't stop looking at it when I was riding yesterday! Maybe it's just fat loss but still...

My father was a professional sportsman and he told me to watch for varicose vein problem, common amongst cyclist. https://members.kaiserpermanente.org/...extId=hw113736

Probably varicose veins. You may want to do as CTAC recommended. See a doctor if you develop a network of them.

Well my new vein is hardly like that. Only visible while cycling.

You want varicose?

Check out some pics of Hincapie or Sean Yates. More veinage than a Mr Olympia!

See a doctor? Are they life threatening? Mine doesn't even stick out. It just shows a little bit.

Thanks for the downer.

My veins only pop out when my muscles are all pumped after working out.

The OPand similar need to be able to distinguish between "veign growth" and veign exposure. I can't speak for veign growth as my veighs have always been pretty prominent, long before i cycled or worked out. I merely have to extend my arm and my veins are semi-prominent.

Ah, don't worry about it! They're simply victims of an overprotective culture. Your vein is clearly one you've always had and your cycling has led to fat loss which in turn has made the vein visible. I have a nice vein in the exact same location, continuing down along my shin.

Even if it were varicose veins, it's really only a cosmetic problem. If not, you'd know anyway, so there's nothing to worry about! Enjoy your "new" vein!

Not if you don't actually FEEL anything is wrong.

If you feel pain or have any other problems, you go to a doctor. You don't go to a doctor because you spot a new vein on your leg muscles! Get real people!!! Get out of your "contents will be hot after heating" trance...

wrong again. varicose veigns usually dont start out as hurting.
it sounds as though yours is NOT varicose but they dont always hurt. they will usually show up as spider web looking at first but I have one on the back of my knee that is HUGE and has led to other problems.
if it/they show up while standing but not neccesarily excersising, but disapear when you prop your feet up above your heart while lying down, get them checked. if they only show up during excersise, nothing to worry about.
I have lots of them now and I have to go through a ritual of foot propping at different times to minimize the damage. some of them "burn" when they first pop out but most dont hurt at all but Im having some issues with circulation return to the upper body now.
most look like a spider web of small veigns below the skin but they are just waiting to pop out.
I have huge veigns popping out between my ankle and knee on both legs on the inner and outer part of my legs thats not varicose, just muscle.
