Spine lengthening excercises?

Advancing age has caused my spine to compress about 1" so that I am now 5'9" in the morning. Since I do have a low back issue that can flare up from time to time, I'm wondering if there are any specific stretches or excercises that can take some of the pressure off the compression process. Any ideas or leads for me to find info. TIA

Many forms of Yoga emphasize lengthening the spine (as well as lots of other good stuff).

Inversion table.

Since I've been using mine, I've gained 1/4" in height and my lower back problems have all but disappeared. And if they do flare up (mostly from me being stupid) getting on the table gives almost immediate relief.

I also do a lot of Yoga and it's invaluable for every part of your body, including the spine.

YMMV.

Got a source for buying a table? Any suggestions as to brand or type?

www.inversion-table-direct.com

Pretty funny URL, but it's real. I have a Hang Ups, but they're all pretty similar.
