I xc skate every winter. It is very hard training and I have had some overtrainingissues with longer sessions. (5 hours with an average 163 hbm) This winter I have shortened the sessions to mostly one and a half hours of pretty intensive skating every other day. Great winter training for my halfcentury body. I love the speed you can achieve on skating skis and that it is not that big an issue if you do not wax them exactly to the snow conditions and temperature.

Not as good as snow but you can rollerski...

There are some people who don't even rollerski. They come out a few days before the big race and get their snow legs, do the big race, then go home.
