Periodization questoin

I began instructing spinning classes a year ago and road biking 2 years ago.
I am not planning to enter races but enjoyed an MS150 and another long ride. Would like to continue the MS150 and maybe try centuries as well.

I began to learn about periodization in the Spinning program. Havent researched more but thought I'd start here with one question.

In the spinning manuals they spoke of the aerobic period being 4 to 6 times a week. The strength being about the same length but I think 4 times a week.

Anyways the question is if I follow this but in a lesser way - that is 3 times a week - would it still have similar benefits only not as much because I am not trying to be a competitive athlete? I simply want to better myself riding.

Thanks for your thoughts and opinions and hope you have a happy holiday.
Jim

I believe if you have a question about the spinning manuals, best to go to www.spinning.com and speak with the forum members there. Go to Forums, click on Instructor Forum, and register with them. Once you've regisered, you can ask any question you need about their manual and how to conform it to what you're doing.

I'm not sure if you're going that route with your questions, but if you are, they can better help you with interpreting the manual given to you.

Actually ... I registered on the Spinning.com forums and tried posting but came up with these messages about not being registered or not being authorized to post. I have been emailing back and forth to resolve the problem for over a week. That's partially why I tried here. (Koffee I also have read some of your posts and replies about training and was hoping for your thoughts.)

But I just talked to someone about the problem and I think it will be resolved. So I can go and try posting there.

Thank you Koffee.

No problem.

Try emailing Blake about the problem. He's the administrator over there- blake@spinning.com and let him know what's going on. He should be able to resolve your issues for sure with that forum.

Happy spinning!
