Best bike trainer > 200.00?
Hey Forum,
I'm kind of new to the cycling scene, and I want to purchase an indoor trainer. So far my research is pointing me to mag trainers.
I've been eying the Cyclops Mag trainer, but I've seen mixed reviews about the noise level.
Can you recommend me your favorite sub-200.00 trainers? My only requirements are low vibration/noise. If it could be durable that'd be a plus too
I want to give this whole "ride your bike inside" thing and see how it turns out before dropping more than 200 bucks on one.
Thanks!
Allie

Have you checked your local craigslist? I bought my rollers that way. $50.00 and I have about 3000 miles on the rollers.

I actually have checked it. I emailed one guy about a Cycleops Fluid trainer (he only wanted 120.00 for it, so maybe it's a deal if it hasn't had some serious wear and tear). Every other trainer post was like, 200 bucks for mag trainers... might as well buy one new!

Keep your eyes on CL for a used Kurt Kinetic - way better than any mag or wind unit I have tried. I found mine for $150 and it came with a bunch of Spinervals videos. I love it!

I picked up the Cycleops Mag trainer over the weekend from one of my LBS. On sale for $150. Did my first ride on it this morning. One hour and MUCH quieter than my previous trainer. Very smooth ride. Didn't wake up anyone in the house like the old one did.
One caveat, this was my first 'ride' since having ACL replacement surgery on my knee, so I kept the unit on low resistance. Put my bike through all the gears, but really didn't push the trainer in the higher levels. That is in store for a month or so from now
