sub zero temps and an apartment, what are my training options?
as the title states, im dealing with severe wind chills outside an i live in an apartment. i have access to a set of rollers and a trainer but i am afraid of the noise. i live on the second level and i cant help but think there will be a lot of noise in the room below me.
anyone have experience with this?
are prodicts like this a viable option for absorbing noise?

Are you on carpet or hard wood? If you are on carpet you should be ok. You may want to add another carpet with pad on top of what you already have. I think it would also depend up the quality of the building and insulation. You should be able to work out during the day without too much problem anyway.

i would think the rollers would make less noise but i would rather use a stationary for space requirements....

I ride a trainer in my apartment over Winter. I'm on the 4th floor and no complaints as of yet. The place is carpeted and I put a camping mat underneath the trainer, seems to do the trick. I try to get all my rides in before about 9 pm just to make sure.

Any chance you could just go knock on the door of the apartment below you and talk to the people? Maybe give them your phone number and ask them to call if it's too loud and you'll stop? Find out what time they are gone, and train then if possible?
Just a thought.

ive got carpet. the construction seems pretty good. we have been quite loud at times and have not had any complaints. i was just worried about something sitting directly on the floor. another piece of carpet is a great idea.

Check with the people below. Maybe your schedules are such that there's time when your noise won't bother.

I've lived in a number of apartment buildings and my neighbors have yet to complain about my rollers or trainer. And I do them in the early morning, with the TV blasting!

Join a gym? Take spinning classes and focus on cross training and weight lifting in the off season. Problem solved!

i tried anytime fitness (so i could go while on the road) but i generally end up putting in 12+ hour days working/driving/flying while in the road (on salary) and do not have the time/energy...
i have a trainer, i just need to get it relocated to my apartment and put it on a pad.
